NOT RECOMMENDED
We’re passionate travelers who live for discovering unique destinations, and our blog is where we bring those journeys to life with curated city guides. However, as much as we love uncovering the beauty and history of places like Istanbul, we must also consider the values and laws that impact travelers—especially those in the LGBTQ+ community.
While Istanbul offers rich culture, breathtaking landmarks, and delicious cuisine, its lack of legal protections, governmental support, and social acceptance for LGBTQ+ individuals cannot be ignored. Public displays of affection or open expressions of identity can be met with hostility, discrimination, or even violence, and the legal system provides little recourse for those affected. Pride events and other LGBTQ+ gatherings are frequently banned, and hate crimes against LGBTQ+ people often go unpunished.
Yes, our Istanbul guides feature carefully crafted 1-, 3-, and 5-day itineraries, packed with top sites, must-try activities, and standout dining options, alongside details to make planning easy. And while it is possible to have a safe and enjoyable experience as an LGBTQ+ traveler, we cannot, in good conscience, recommend visiting a place that fails to uphold the basic dignity and rights of its LGBTQ+ residents and visitors.
There are so many incredible destinations around the world where you and your loved ones will be treated with the respect and acceptance you deserve.
Explore our Istanbul guide for inspiration, but we encourage you to choose a destination that values equality and inclusivity for your next unforgettable adventure.
